Kenny Omega Responds To Criticism Of Women Not Being Booked Well In AEW
January 9, 2020Last night was the final straw with fans regarding the booking of AEW’s Women’s division. Over the last few months, fans online have been very vocal as far as criticizing the way AEW uses the women on their roster after touting they will use women better than other promotions do. AEW Executive Vice President Kenny Omega chimed in on this today while doing a Q&A.
Omega, who rarely is known for engaging directly with the fans on Twitter posted this morning that he would do a 20-minute “non-trolling” Q&A and they flood gates opened regarding the women’s division.
One of the first questions Omega got was asking who is the face of the women’s division to where Omega responded with,
“Still developing the face of the division, but Riho’s proven to be an inspiration to many, Shida is the complete package, and Kris has shown that she has the tools to take the div to another level.”
Another fan noted how they felt AEW has failed to make their women’s division mean something as they promised, Omega responded with,
“We’ve had fantastic performances from our women that had our arenas shaking. Literally the loudest reactions on the show at times. Where was the failure? What were you hoping to see?”
Omega also called most of the criticism that he has read incredibly ignorant stating,
“Lately, most ‘criticisms’ I read are incredibly ignorant. Depressing the amount of fans that have absolutely no class. That being said, I do try to sift through those to get to the actual constructive criticism.”

Coolest part is seeing people that you’ve believed in be introduced into a new environment and win over scores of new fans.

My goal was unity but strangely my toughest adversary hasn’t been office big wigs or fellow performers, it’s fans that prefer hostility in the world and want to both love and hate something equally.

We’ve been working together for years and have a great natural chemistry. My other partner is unfortunately busy with another promotion 😅

Kurt Angle, Mankind, Kenta Kobashi …. it’s a list that would get pretty long
