James Storm Signed WWE Deal In 2020, Unable To Debut Due To Pandemic
September 28, 2020WWE tried getting themselves a Cowboy.
Back in late 2015 Triple H brought James Storm to NXT. Storm had two matches in NXT defeating both Danny Burch and Adam Rose. When it came time for Storm to sign with WWE it has been said that it was Triple H who may have talked him out of signing with the company. Storm had a deal from WWE to start in NXT or go back to TNA. The TNA deal was worth more than the WWE deal and it has been said that Triple H actually told Storm to take the TNA deal for more money because he has a family and being able to provide for his family with more money would have been the right call. Now it looks like WWE reached out to and even signed James Storm in 2020 but the pandemic screwed everything up.
While speaking with Pro Wrestling Sheet, Storm actually stated that WWE reached out to him over Royal Rumble weekend about signing him. He stated that everything was agreed on and a deal was signed. All he needed to due was debut, but that was put on hold due to the pandemic. He stated that he last talked with anyone in WWE back in July and hopes he can still work with WWE sometimes in the near future.
“I get home and I see I got an email from Canyon Ceman saying, ‘Hey, we’re interested. Paul Heyman wants me to reach out and bring you to Raw. I was like, ‘Wait … I think Bobby is going to Raw. Hmmm. This could be interesting.’ Ya know We agreed on all the terms. It was signed.”
James Storm also stated even though being one half of the NWA Tag Team Champions Billy Corgan and David Lagana let him out of his NWA contract wanting to help him get to WWE.
“I told them I would work the weekend of WrestleMania shows with Eli [Drake] to drop the NWA belts to whoever they wanted to drop it to. Just go out on good terms. Good business, ya know? Then that show got cancelled for the NWA, and then it kept snowballing.”
It is unclear what the status of Storm and WWE is right now. With Storm saying that he did sign a contract maybe he can still be brought in soon and debut in WWE. There have been rumors of Storm’s former tag team partner returning soon. Could we see Beer Money in WWE?
