A former Women’s Champion is now a free agent.

Earlier this week it was noticed on WWE’s website that WWE Hall of Famer and former Women’s Champion Beth Phoenix was moved from the active roster page to the alumni section. This led to speculation on her no longer being under contract with the company and since that has been confirmed.

According to a new report from Mike Johnson of PWInsider, Johnson reports that according to multiple sources, Phoenix is no longer under contract with WWE. Phoenix during this last run with the company worked as part of the commentary team in NXT along with working nearly a dozen matches since 2018.

With Phoenix no longer locked in with WWE, many have started to speculate that she could show up in AEW with her husband Adam Copeland. According to a new report from Fightful, they state that they have not heard of any imminent plans, one AEW source indicated that if she is to come in, it would likely be when Copeland returns from injury. Also if she was to work for AEW she would not be able to do so as Beth Phoenix, but could go by her real name Beth Copeland. WWE last renewed the trademark on the Beth Phoenix name back in February of 2021.

It was also stated by Fightful that a couple of indie promoters have expressed interest in booking her but it is not known if she is willing to take bookings or not.

If we do hear anything further on what could be next for Beth Phoenix, we will keep you updated here.
