Former WWE Champion Cleared To Return To The Ring

Could we see something glorious in the future?

We have seen numerous times in WWE that when someone gets injured they could remain with the company in a backstage role. They could end up working as an agent/producer like Tyson Kidd, Jason Jordan, and Robert Roode. In the case of the first two, it has been said their in-ring careers are over, yet with Roode that is not the case.

While speaking with Chris Van Vliet, for NXT and WWE United States Champion Robert Roode revealed that he has been cleared to get back in the ring. Roode has been out of action after undergoing neck surgery and has not worked a match since June 2022. Roode noted that the neck issues were a result of wear and tear over the years and first injured it in 2012. He noted he re-injured his neck in a match with Omos. Roode said he just landed wrong and it wasn’t anyone specific’s fault. Yet Roode said he has been given the green light to get back in the ring.

Ironically enough, I just got green-lighted. The fusion has completely fused. So as far as like, looking at it from a medical point of view, it’s safe to get back in the ring, I guess. But at almost 48 years old, given the opportunity that I’ve been given now to work as a producer, which was my goal coming to WWE almost eight years ago, I’m quite happy doing this. And I feel like I’ve had a good run, as they say, and I’m happy to do what I’m doing now.

Rood would go on to say at his age he does not want to work full-time anymore and is very happy with his current role in the company. As far as having one last match, roode noted that of course, he would but that may not happen as he stated, But sometimes you just, when the wheels fall off, the wheels fall off.”

We may never see Robert Roode back in the ring but he sounds like he is alright with that and very happy in the role he currently is with WWE. He stated that becoming an agent in WWE was always the end goal when signing with the company eight years ago and is just grateful for all the opportunities he has gotten in WWE.
