Former IC Champion Could Come Out Of Retirement To Face Drew McIntyre
November 15, 2024 Off By Tim JarrellTwo friends could meet one more time.
In 2024 one of the biggest stories in pro wrestling was the feud between Drew McIntyre and CM Punk. With Punk out injured for a good portion of the year WWE had to drag the story out. With the two going at it over and over there was one person who was there trying to be the voice of reason for McIntyre when he would get a little too heated. Now a new report indicates he could come out of retirement to face Drew one more time.
According to WrestleVotes on WrestleVotes Radio, Joey and TC touched on WWE’s interest in potentially having Wade Barrett come out of retirement for a short-term angle with Drew McIntyre. Barrett is the current color commentator on Monday Night RAW but has been somewhat involved with Drew throughout the year even Drew putting his hands on Wade at one point as well.
It is unclear when this could begin if it does and it would not be a full-time return for Barrett either. The last time the two faced off in the ring was back in 2013. On the April 22, 2013 the two faced off at a house show with Barrett successfully defending the Intercontinental Championship against McIntyre. The two have shared the ring a dozen times in the past but that was the only singles match the two have had together.
If we do hear anything further on Barrett stepping back in the ring, we will have it here and on the PWUnlimited YouTube Channel.
