Former NXT Champion Gets A Name Change

Another name was changed with a call up.

Tonight after the RAW Women’s Championship match at SummerSlam we saw Bayley, Dakota Kai, and Io Shirai come out and basically form a new team on the RAW brand. Yet when it comes to Shirai there was a question coming out of the segment leaving some scratching their heads.

During the entire segment, Corey Graves would not call Io Shirai by the name we have known her by since she debuted with WWE back in back in 2017. Instead, Graves kept calling her Iyo Sky and many asked if her name was changed or what. We now know that she has in fact had her name changed as of today. WWE has already updated her profile to show the new name.

We do not know why the name change was made but this has been something WWE has done a lot when calling up superstars from NXT.
