Former Five Time Champion Reportedly Returning To WWE
September 18, 2020Is the paparazzi coming back to WWE?
Over the last few years, former champions in WWE that we have not thought would return to the company actually have. Some because they found success in another company, because they were thought to be m medically disqualified or even retired. Now it looks like a former five-time champion who wrestled some but not much after being released by WWE back in 2011 is reportedly coming back.
According to a new report from Mike Johnson of PWInsider, Johnson reports that former Women’s and Diva’s Champion Melina has come to terms on a new deal to return to the WWE. Melina was released back in 2011 from the WWE and over the last nine years worked less than 65 matches. Most recently, in late 2019 and 2020, we saw Melina return to them for some indie shows including some for the NWA. Melina last appeared on WWE program during the RAW reunion special in July of 2019.
The report goes on to state that interest in getting Melina goes all the way back to the beginning of 2020 when WWE wanted her for the 2020 Women’s Royal Rumble match. Unfortunately at the time that was unable to happen due to her working agreement with the NWA that has since expired.
As far as when we could expect to see Melina return to WWE programming, it was stated that could come in the next week. If we hear anything regarding Melina’s show, we will have it here and on the PWUnlimited YouTube Channel.
