DEVELOPING STORY: Updated Details Kushida Reportedly Leaving WWE
April 18, 2022New details on Kushida’s WWE status.
Earlier tonight, Fightful put out a report that Kushida had left the WWE. At the time of the initial report, they did not really have any additional details on Kushida’s current status. Now they have provided some new information.
Fightful did report that early indications were that Kushida’s deal expired. As far as WWE offering him a new one, that was not known. Yet in a little bit of a confusing line they noted, “At least one person in the company was of the belief it was a “budget cut release.” We’ll work to find out more details.” Now Kushida leaving with his contract is up and being released are two different things.
If Kushida left the company because his deal expired then there were not be a non-compete. Yet if he was released, then he would have a 30-day non-compete. One thing that “budget cut release” could mean though could be that his deal expired and due to budget cuts they did not offer him a new deal to stay.
Kushida sign with WWE back in early 2019 and spent his entire time with the company on the NXT brand. While in NXT he did win the NXT Cruiserweight Championship once. Most recently Kushida was part of the Jacket Time tag team with Ikemen Jiro.
If we do hear anything else on Kushida no longer being with WWE, we will have it here and on the PWUnlimited YouTube Channel.
