Current Status Of Chris Jericho’s Contract With New Japan
June 4, 2021Could Jericho return to New Japan?
Since January 2018 we have seen Chris Jericho work six matches for New Japan Pro Wrestling. His last match for the company was against Hiroshi Tanahashi at the 2020 WrestleKingdom event. Now we have an update on Jericho’s status with the company.
According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, Meltzer reports that Jericho is not currently under contract with New Japan Pro Wrestling. His last match with Tanahashi was the last date on his deal. The report also states that former NJPW President Harold Meij was not a fan of Jericho’s deal because of how much he was being paid. It was said that others in the company felt differently.
As far as Jericho working for New Japan in the future, he recently told TSN that he does want to return to New Japan. The big concern internally is before anyone can be offered similar deals going forward, they need to get their financials in order.
If we do hear anything further on if Chris Jericho will ever go back to New Japan Pro Wrestling, we will have it here and on the PWUnlimited YouTube Channel.
