CM Punk Reportedly In Negotiations For In-Ring Return
July 21, 2021It looks like the best in the world could be coming back.
Since 2014 wrestling fans have clamored to see that man who called himself “The best in the world” get back into a wrestling ring. The closest we have gotten was in 2018 when CM Punk fought twice for the UFC. Then the following year, he apparently did a run-in during an indie show under a mask. Yet Punk for some time he has said his days in front of a crowd in a wrestling ring seem to be over. Or are they?
According to a new report from Fightful, they do report that it looks like CM Punk has been in talks to make a pro wrestling in-ring return. The report states that sources indicated to them that his most likely lading point would be All Elite Wrestling. Yet, they have not heard if a deal has been signed, when negotiation began, any creative plans, or a possible date when Punk could come in.
On an interesting note here, the report also does go on to state that withing recent days, higher-ups in WWE believe that Punk is headed to AEW.
Now no shocker here, CM Punk nor AEW has given any indication to make it look like the two sides could be working on a deal and why would they. They would not want to spoil something this big before it actually happens. This would be the biggest news story in pro wrestling possible since Brock Lesnar returned to WWE in 2012. When the Rock returned in 2012 and 2013 to face John Cena at back-to-back WrestleManias. When Brock Lesnar broke The Undertaker’s streak in 2014. Or even last year when The Undertaker “actually” retired from the ring.
If we do hear anything else on CM Punk returning to the ring and possibly for AEW, we will have it here and on the PWUnlimited YouTube Channel.
