Bryan’s deal is up next week.

It is no secret that this year Bryan Danielson plans to wrap up his run as a full-time professional wrestler. He said when his current contract with AEW is up he wants to be home more with his family due to a promise he made to his daughter Biridie. It is known that his deal is up this fall, but now Bryan has confirmed exactly when and that is in just about a week.

Last night on AEW Dynamite there was a video where Renee Paquette was interviewing Danielson and Jeff Jarrett appeared. He gave Bryan a pep talk about having one foot out the door and having to be all in when facing Swereve for the World Title. Since then AEW has posted an extended version of that video on social media. In the video, Danielson said that August 1st is the date his wrestling contract with AEW is up. This means that his deal as a wrestler with the company will expire before he faces Swerve Strickland for the title on August 25th. Bryan stated,

“August 1, actually. Next Thursday, my wrestling contract is up. Which also happens to be my son’s fourth birthday. Tony [Khan] talked about this in an interview, so I feel comfortable talking about it. I’m not MJF’ing this and being like, trying to use my contract being up and being like, ‘Oh, I’m going to get all the money. Somebody give me all the money.’ Yeah, my contract is up August 1. You know, when I signed this contract — me and Brie, we talked about how this would be the last wrestling contract I was going to sign. Part of me is wondering what life is like after this, you know? Part of me is excited about that. But even though Wembley is after this, I still have to focus on that. That’s got to be kind of my focus. So, yeah, it’s a wild time. It’s a wild time.”

Bryan also talked about a number of different topics including Doc Samson is not wanting him in the ring till the match at ALL IN due to healing injuries. He noted how his neck is in a place that can be fixed but the doctor does not want him to take risks that could affect that. He also mentioned his first retirment and how he needed that to be able to appreciate what he has and is doing now in his career.

As stated Bryan Danielson will challenge Swerve Strickland for the AEW World Title at AEW ALL IN in Wembley Stadium on August 25. Bryan said at this point this upcoming match feels like the biggest match of his career.
