Big Update On AEW Negotiating With CM Punk
July 22, 2021It looks like talks between CM Punk and AEW are farther along than thought.
Wednesday the news broke that CM Punk has been in talks to return to the ring and that the talks are with All Elite Wrestling. The initial report stated that the two have talked but it was not clear how far into the talks have gone. Yet now we may know what phase those talks are in.
According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, Meltzer wrote on The Board on F4WOnline that right now AEW and CM Punk are in “talks about certain dates.” That would mean that the talks between the two sides are pretty far along in these talks. If they are trying to work out what dates Punk would work for the company one was think that Punk has agreed to work for the company and it’s just all about working out his schedule.
Many have speculated that CM Punk should debut in AEW during the week they are in Chicago from September 1st to the 5th. There is still plenty of time for all the details to be ironed out and get this deal signed. If you remember with Christian Cage, talks started about two weeks before he debuted and the deal was not signed till the day before he appeared in the company for the first time.
