BIG Match Not Set For Money In The Bank

Fans are not getting what they want… yet.

Coming up on June 7th from the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles is the WWE Money in the Bank PLE. Many fans online have theorized that they should do John Cena versus CM Punk for the WWE Championship at that show. It would be a call back to their infamous title match from the 2011 Money in the Bank event. Yet that is not happening.

According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, he reports that a match between Cena and Punk at Money in the Bank is not the current plan for that show. Yes, Punk teased on Instagram as Backlash was going off the air that he wanted to go after Cena and the WWE Championship, but it’s just not happening yet. Once source stated that they want to get to that match later in the year, “When the timing is right.”

Both men are advertised for the show in Los Angeles, but a singles match between the two for the title is not the plan as of yet for the two first-ballot Hall of Famers.
