Big E Comments On In-Ring Career Possibly Being Over

December 2, 2024 Off By Tim Jarrell

Big E is at peace with how things may go.

It has been two and a half years since we saw Big E in a match. He was injured in a tag team match on the March 11, 2022 edition of Smackdown. He took a Belly to Belly from Ridge Holland and ended up breaking his neck. He has not been in the ring for a match since and Big E has talked more about this.

In a piece with The Player Tribune, Big E wrote a column about The New Day coming up on their 10-year anniversary. In the column, he talked about many aspects of the group and the injury that changed his life.

“You know that thing I said earlier — how I’m someone who spent his past not being able to picture a future? I can picture one now. Which is ironic, I guess, since I broke my neck and can’t wrestle. But I’m at peace. And if that’s truly a wrap on my in-ring career……. I’m excited to explore the paths that are opening up for me in its wake. Whether it’s working for WWE outside of the ring, or it’s hosting, or acting, or voice work, or filmmaking, or so many other things. I feel like there are still so many parts of myself for me to discover. I feel like I’ve spent the last 10 years with Woods and Kofi on this amazing, life-changing project: trying to perform a version of wrestling that’s in the image of all the things we love. And now I want to find out how far I can stretch that project past wrestling. I want to see if I can actually create some of those things we love.”

We have seen Big E take on new roles with WWE since the injury including being part of the PLE pre & post show panels as well as helping out at WWE tryouts. Big E has also done some acting over the last two years along with a few other projects as well.

Of course, we would all love to see the former WWE Champion back in the ring but if this is truly it for him and his days as an in-ring performer are over, we just want to say thank you. Thank you for entertaining us all for so long in and out of the ring and we know he will continue to do so down the line in many different ways.
