Backstage New On WrestleMania Title Unification Match

Backstage New On WrestleMania Title Unification Match

February 28, 2022 0 By Tim Jarrell

Two titles are set to become one in a month.

At WrestleMania 38 we will see Universal Champion Roman Reigns face WWE Champion Brock Lesnar in the night two main event. WWE is advertising this as the biggest match in WrestleMania history and a unification title match of the Universal and WWE Championships. Now we have some new info on what “unifying” these two titles actually means.

According to Dave Meltzer on the latest Observer Radio, Meltzer did state that the winner of this match will become the unified champion and one of these titles will go away. Yet Meltzer also stated that WWE only having one World Champion is not going to last long. He noted how that plan is to unify the title and then introduce another World title for whatever brand loses their title.

The word on this is that it is not that the one World Champion can’t be on both shows, it is that the different networks in FOX and USA would like to have a single world champion for their actual brand.

So far four matches have been announced for WrestleMania with three on night one and one on night two.

WrestleMania 38 Night One

Smackdown Women’s Championship
Charlotte Flair(c) vs Ronda Rousey

RAW Women’s Championship
Becky Lynch(c) vs Bianca Belair

The Miz & Logan Paul vs Rey & Dominik Mysterio

WrestleMania 38 Night Two

Universal & WWE Championship Unification
Roman Reigns(c) vs Brock Lesnar(c)
