Could a tag team leave AEW in 2024?

In 2024 we have seen it be a big year for wrestler contracts expiring whether that is with WWE or AEW. In WWE we have seen a number of talent sign new deals and some either leave or not be re-signed. In AEW we have heard of a number of contracts coming up including Brian Danielson and Penta. Now we have learned of another’s contract expiring this year and it’s Penta’s brother.

According to a new report from Fightful, they are reporting that Rey Fenix’s AEW contract is set to expire this year. They have yet to hear when that will happen though. They state that sources they have spoken to say that AEW wants to retain both Fenix and Penta and that offers were extended and talks were had. They have not heard how those talks have gone. Just like his brother Penta, it is also expected that WWE would be interested in him if he were to become a free agent.

Penta and Fenix have both been with AEW since the company started back in 2019 and worked a program in those early days with The Young Bucks. Fenix is a former AEW International Champion, former AEW Tag Team Champion, and former AEW Trios Champion. If we hear anything more about his contract status with the company, we will keep you updated here.
