*UPDATE* AJ Styles Injured In The Royal Rumble
January 26, 2020Tonight was a good night for some but not the phenomenal one.
Tonight was the Royal Rumble and the Men’s Royal Rumble match was a fun match. We saw Brock Lesnar eliminate 13 men, Edge made his long-awaited return and Drew McIntyre won the Rumble. Yet it looks as if AJ Styles was injured in the match.
When Edge first made his way in the ring after coming out 21st, he hit a number of guys with a spear including Styles. When Edge hit Styles with the spear Styles’ body folded in half and it looked like he landed awkwardly on his shoulder. Styles scooted into the corner and every referee at ringside plus two ringside doctors ran over to check on Styles. After about a minute of talking to Styles, he pulled himself up and went over to Edge who quickly eliminated him from the match.
As far as Styles does go, a source indicated to us that the fear backstage is that Styles dislocated his shoulder or suffered a torn rotator cuff. As of right now, it is to soon to say how severe the injury is as Styles will need to be further evaluated. It was said that the direction going forward was to have Styles and Edge work a program together but if AJ is injured that would have to be pushed back and something new will have to be worked out for Edge.
If the injury is a dislocated shoulder, depending on the severity Styles could be out from as quickly as six weeks to as long as three months. If he suffered a torn rotator cuff, he could be out anywhere from four to six months. The fear now is if Styles will have to miss WrestleMania in April.
As of right now, no further details are known of Styles condition and if we do hear anything further we will keep you updated.
