LISTEN: AJ Styles Comments On Injury Suffered In The Rumble, Says 100% His Fault

January 28, 2020 0 By Tim Jarrell

AJ Styles is optimistic he will be able to work WrestleMania.

During the Royal Rumble, we saw Edge give AJ Styles a spear and Styles land awkwardly on his shoulder. Styles would then scoot into the corner and talk with the referees and doctors before having Edge throw him out of the match. The fear that night was that Styles suffered either a separated shoulder or a torn rotator cuff.

Tonight AJ Styles was playing PUBG on his Mixer channel and gave a full update on his injury and what is going on. Styles stated the injury looks to be a separated shoulder. He said he does not know how long he will be out of action but does think he will be back sooner than expected. Styles said he is already feeling better as he can lift his arm over his head. Styles also noted that he has already started therapy to heal up the shoulder.

As far as the spot in the Royal Rumble itself, AJ said he takes 100% blame for the injury as he was just trying to sell the move bigger than it is to make it look like he was hit hard. He said sometimes maybe he does a little too much and it doesn’t always pay off. You can listen to Styles talk about the injury in the video above.

“What a moment for him(Edge) to right? Oh my gosh they went crazy. His entrance, people were going crazy for Edge when he made his, it was awesome. everything he did in the ring was perfect, perfect. Not so much everything AJ Styles did in the ring was perfect. Just so we know, just so everything’s clear, Edge did nothing, absolutely 100& nothing wrong. He did his move his spear, everything was perfect the way he did it.

If there’s any blame put on anybody about what I’m dealing with, with my shoulder, it’s me. 100% me. I was over brothered as they say.  I just went crazy with my bump there. The only problem with flipping over the way that I did, the first thing to hit was my left shoulder. I thought I had dislocated my shoulder. They wanted to get me out of there right away. I told them we can’t do that, I can’t roll under the bottom rope. That’s not how the rumble works. I said I’m staying in, somebody is going to have to throw me over and we made sure that happened before I would go to the back and get looked at.

It’s a separated shoulder. If your gonna do some damage to your shoulder this might be the best one to do. You can come back with therapy from this. I’m pretty sure that’s all it is. I can tell you Monday morning it was very difficult to put on a shirt. Very difficult to put on deodorant and to reach across, it sucks. But from Monday to Tuesday and therapy today, feeling a lot better.

So, I don’t expect to be out very long. I’m assuming and I’m betting on myself that I will be back before they think that I am ready.”

Styles said that he went to get an X-ray today on the shoulder but the X-ray was unavailable so he will have to get that later. AJ also said that time off is always good but he hates the kind of time off where he is actually not able to go to work. He likes time off but not being told he can’t go to work because he is injured.

With that, it looks like dispite the injury Styles is in good spirits and feels that all will be good for him to make it back in time work WrestleMania in April.
