AEW Tag Titles Vacated, Tournament Announced To Crown New Champions

March 4, 2024 Off By Tim Jarrell

A new AEW tournament starts this month.

Tonight on AEW Revolution the main event of the show saw Sting and Darby Allin defeat the Young Bucks to retain AEW World Tag Team Championships. With Sting retiring after tonight the question came up on what they would do with the titles. After the show, all those questions were answered.

During the post-show media scrum, it was announced that the AEW Tag Team Championships were being vacated after tonight. Tony Khan would then go on to state that a multi-bracket tournament would be taking place to crown new champions. He noted that the tournament will start in March, yet did not give a specific date for when the tournament will begin.

If you did not see, Sting and Darby Allin retained the title tonight in a crazy match that main evented the AEW Revolution pay-per-view. Sting got the win for his team in the match when he put the Scorpion Death Lock on Matthew Jackson making him tap out.
