AEW Original Confirms Not Re-Signing With AEW

One of the first signed by AEW is leaving the company.

In 2019 AEW signed a very interesting and as some may say diverse roster with people from all realms of pro wrestling. Some of them are still with the company, some have re-signed and one has revealed he is leaving the company soon.

While speaking with Denise Salcedo, Joey Janela revealed that he is not re-signing with All Elite Wrestling. Janela stated that his contract with AEW is up on May 1st and at one point the thought he would stay with the company, but now that has changed.

“I said in a couple interviews with Sean [Ross Sapp] in September that All Out weekend, I said yes. Recently, in an interview with Barstool Sports I said yes. My contract is up on May 1st [2022] and I am gonna have to say no now. I am not interested in signing with AEW, re-signing with them.”

During his time with AEW Janela only really had two standout programs or matches in the company. First off Janela had a lights-out unsanctioned match with former AEW World Champion Jon Moxley. His biggest program was when he turned on former tag team partner Sonny Kiss.

Speaking of going back on the independents, Janela did say he was a little scared cause it means having to work multiple shows a week and sell merch to make a living. With AEW he was getting a steady paycheck every two weeks. He also noted how his price had gone up as well and he was unsure if promoters would want to pay it.

Janela is set for Joey Janela’s Spring Break 6 over WrestleMania weekend, and if we hear what else is next with him after AEw, we will have it here and on the PWUnlimited YouTube Channel.
