AEW Could Run Special Event In Cleveland After Receiving Tax Credit
July 30, 2024Is AEW coming to Cleveland?
This Friday and Saturday WWE will emanate from Cleveland, Ohio with Smackdown and SummerSlam, now it looks like AEW could be heading there with a big show as well. A new filing in the state of Ohio has revealed that All Elite Wrestling could run some big shows thee is 2024 and 2025.
As part of the state’s Motion Picture Tax Credit Program, it has been revealed that AEW is getting a pretty big take credit from the Ohio government. The credit seems to be coming for unnamed events this year and next. In a press release Monday it was stated that AEW will get $1.275 million from the state of Ohio as part of their $36.7 million allotment. In the release, AEW is listed under the ‘TV Series’ category as “AEW 2024-2025 Productions, Cleveland/TBD, $1,275,000”.
As far as what this could be for that at this time is not known. For 2024 AEW has no dates in the city of Cleveland. They do have a Collision taping set in Dayton, Ohio on September 12th, so maybe that could be the TBD listed in the press release.
On a separate note, WWE has also received a tax credit from the state as well for $1.7 million which may be tied to SummerSlam this weekend at Cleveland Browns Stadium. This is according to a press release that we sent out back in February.
