AEW Announces Secondary Championship, 8 Man Tournament Announced

All Elite Wrestling has announced their fourth championship title.

When All Elite Wrestling started they said they wanted to focus on crowning the champions in their main divisions. Cody said stated that they would eventually announce more championships and that day has come.

Today on the Road To Dynamite video AEW has announced a secondary championship. The title will be akin to the old television championship and be called the “TNT Championship”.

AEW sent out the following press release.

AEW announced its first-ever β€œTNT CHAMPIONSHIP,” a high-stakes, eight-man
tournament which kicks off on Wednesday, April 8, on the weekly AEW: DYNAMITE show on TNT. The single-elimination tournament will feature the biggest names in AEW all vying for the inaugural TNT CHAMPIONSHIP belt.

Wrestlers in the first half of the tournament bracket will be revealed this Tuesday, March 31, on AEW’s YouTube show, AEW DARK. The second half of the bracket will be announced this Wednesday, April 1, during the live AEW: DYNAMITE show on TNT.

The TNT CHAMPIONSHIP will culminate with an epic final match at DOUBLE OR NOTHING, AEW’s highly anticipated PPV event on Saturday, May 23, in Las Vegas.

As stated, the plan is to hold an 8 man tournament and crown the first champion at Double or Nothing on May 23rd. The first half of the brackets will be announced tomorrow on AEW Dark with the second half of the bracket announced Wednesday on Dynamite. As of right now what the title looks like is not known.
