AEW Adds Another Step To Current COVID Testing Protocol
September 25, 2020AEW has added another step to their COVID testing.
Every since March when the country went into lockdown and AEW was forced to no longer travel every week they settled for the most part in Jacksonville, Florida for their TV tapings. They immediately set in motion a plan to test everyone at the tapings for COVID-19 to ensure no one with the virus was working the show. They have been doing a rapid blood test to get the results back faster than any other form of testing. Now it looks like AEW has added another step to their testing protocol.
According to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Meltzer reports that AEW is now requiring all talent and staff to get tested for COVID-19 before they even travel to Jacksonville for that week’s shows. After getting their first test back negative they can travel to Jacksonville. After arriving in Jacksonville, they will be tested again, and then once that test comes back negative they will be allowed inside Daily’s Place. Meltzer states that AEW President Tony Khan is actually working with the NFL COVID response team to put this plan in motion and have the stricter guidelines.
A number of AEW talents were missing from this week’s Dynamite including Lance Archer who revealed on social media that he was sent home after testing positive for the virus. Brian Cage who was also absent from this week’s show posting on social media that he was ill, but has since deleted the post. Others in AEW have also come out and revealed they have either tested positive or are self-quantining including Serena Deeb and Ben Carter.
